After the defeat in the DEL play-off semi-final against the Eisbären Berlin (2: 3 in the series), seven players will leave Mannheim. As the Kurpfälzer announced on Wednesday, defenders Moritz Wirth and Ilari Melart will no longer be up for the club next season.
Melart’s contract was terminated prematurely at his own request as that of the attacker Valentino Klos. The strikers Jason Bast, Andrew Desjardin, Ruslan Ischakow and Florian Elias also leave Mannheim.
Elias is awarded to DEL competitor Schwenninger Wild Wings for one year. “We were looking for a strong U-23 player and also found him in Florian Elias,” said Schwenningen’s sports director Christof Kreutzer. “Even if his commitment is only designed for one year, I see it as an absolute win-win situation for both sides.” In Mannheim, Elias’s contract runs until 2025.
Markus Hännikäinen is currently talking about remaining, it continued. The eagles had laid the striker in February.
